Job Summary:

The Lead Accountant is responsible to lead daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring financial records are accurate, and compliance with legal requirements is maintained.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintaining contracts with clients
  • Assist with corporate credit card, expense/travel program, and fuel card program
  • Review all expense reports for non-reimbursable credit card activity for accounting approval
  • Responsible for financial month end tasks related to the areas of responsibilities; including reconciling GL accounts, recording accruals and reviewing accounts for accuracy.
  • Assist with preparation, distribution, and reconciling of monthly cost center reports to managers.
  • Capable of analyzing financial data, to reason and reach conclusions with minimum guidance.
  • Highly competent and experienced in the principles and application of accounting principles.
  • Mastery knowledge of Microsoft Excel and working knowledge with the remaining MS suite of products (i.e., PowerPoint, and Word).
  • A team player who possesses problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • An energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
  • Responsible to lead daily operations of the Accounting Department, to include:
    • month and end-year process
    • accounts payable/receivable
    • cash receipts
    • general ledger
    • payroll and time & attendance
    • revenue and expenditure variance analysis
    • reconciliations
    • fixed asset activity
    • travel & expense system
    • license, permits, utilities

 Skills/Abilities:

  • Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software and databases.
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required to establish and maintain positive relationships with other employees and customers
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Critical thinker with innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Organizational, time management, and planning skills.
  • Judgment and decision-making ability.

Working Environments/Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk or working on a computer.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand and walk; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone.
  • May be required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • May be required to drive a company vehicle.

 

Reporting Structure & Classification:

  • The Lead Accountant is a full-time salaried exempt role that reports directly to the Corporate Accounting Manager

  • $65k-$75k
